The First Exposure Draft of Proposed Changes to Advisory Opinions in conjunction with the 2020–21 edition of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice was released today. This exposure draft presents potential changes to existing Advisory
Opinions to reflect the proposed changes to USPAP that were exposed in the Second Exposure Draft released August 23, 2018, one new Advisory Opinion (AO-38), and the retirement of Advisory Opinions 4, 11, and 12.
Administrative edits may be made to other advisory opinions depending upon what changes to USPAP are adopted for the 2020-21 edition. While the ASB may adopt new Advisory Opinions and changes to existing Advisory Opinions without prior public exposure, the Board believes it is in the best interests of all to go through the exposure process and receive public input prior to adoption.
The changes include hot topics such as the use of drone and other technologies to collect data and comparing competitive listings in determining value opinions.
The written comment deadline is October 10, 2018. To submit comments on the proposals, please email ASBcomments@appraisalfoundation.org.
